The beloved morning show, Good Morning America, has been missing a familiar face for the past few weeks, catching the attention of its avid fans. Since October 26, Michael Strahan has been absent from the show, and, according to GMA, he will not be returning for at least another week.

During his time off-air, his colleagues, Juju Chang from Nightline and Linsey Davis from World News Tonight, have been graciously filling in for him.

According to Strahan’s colleague Curt Menefee, the former NFL star has been dealing with a personal family matter, which is the reason behind his absence. In a statement to People, an ABC spokesperson confirmed this by saying, “Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns.”

As of now, Strahan hasn’t publicly addressed his absence, and he has also been inactive on social media.

Additionally, Strahan has also been absent from his role as a sports analyst on Fox’s NFL Sunday for two weeks.

In a previous interview with USA Today, Strahan expressed his love for his hosting career, stating, “First of all, I get to work with fantastic people. Smart, engaged, funny people.” He further added, “Another favorite part is that it changes. It’s never the same. There’s no two days where you, ‘Oh yeah, same news.’ … The enjoyment of that makes me more engaged because I understand work can change at the drop of a hat.”
