For one Australian woman, Kym Beechey, spending time outdoors allows her to appreciate the beauty of nature and capture stunning sights through her camera lens.

While walking through the forest one day, Kym stumbled upon what she initially believed to be a baby tawny frogmouth, a bird known for its owl-like appearance. Excitedly, she swiftly took out her phone to photograph the adorable creature. However, when she zoomed in, she soon realized that it wasn’t a bird at all, but a banksia pod. These peculiar-looking pods grow on banksia trees and possess a unique charm.

Banksia trees are predominantly found in southwestern Australia, although they can also be spotted in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Interestingly, their pods are often compared to pine cones. These pods have the remarkable ability to burst open, typically during forest fires, releasing their seeds.

Although Kym’s initial sighting turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, she couldn’t help but laugh at her amusing error. She graciously decided to share the photo she believed to be a bird, offering others a chance to chuckle alongside her.
