Dinner with My Wife at a Café

A 60-year-old man was taken aback when a stranger approached him in a restaurant, accused him of being unfaithful, and he later discovered he had multiple siblings.

Phillip Granger often thought of himself as having a common face, because strangers frequently mistook him for someone else throughout his life.

Even though his wife found him attractive, Phillip considered himself too “ordinary.” However, at 60, his life took a surprising turn.

He was dining with his wife Mara at a restaurant, celebrating a major contract she had just secured. While he was holding her hand and leaning in for a kiss, a woman suddenly appeared.

“So, you were busy tonight?” she shouted. “An emergency surgery? LIAR! It’s over!” She hurled a glass of wine into Phillip’s face and stormed off in a fury.

Dumbfounded, Phillip wiped his face with a napkin and told Mara, “I’m sorry, dear, I have no idea what’s happening!” But Mara left the table and went after the woman.

Extraordinary things happen to ordinary people every day. “Excuse me,” Mara said to the woman. “Could you tell me what’s going on?”

“Who are you?” the angry woman asked. “His girlfriend?” “No,” Mara replied. “I’m his wife.” “HE’S MARRIED?!” exclaimed the woman. “I swear it’s the last time I’m dating a doctor! Dr. Ralf Gois! I should have known!” “My husband’s name is Phillip Granger,” Mara said. “And he’s not a doctor.”

The woman, embarrassed, said, “Oh my, but he looks EXACTLY like Ralf! Like a twin brother!” Before departing, Mara managed to collect Dr. Ralf Gois’s phone number.

“Listen, Phil,” Mara said. “This is very strange. The woman said this Ralf looks exactly like you. You were adopted, could he be your twin brother?”

Phillip was thrilled at the thought. He had grown up in a loving adoptive family, yet always felt like something was missing. The possibility of having a brother filled that void in his heart.

“Maybe it’s just a coincidence,” Phillip said, but Mara persuaded him to call Ralf and set up a meeting. “Hello,” Phillip said over the phone. “You don’t know me, my name is Phillip Granger, and I believe we look very much alike…”

That same afternoon, Phillip and Ralf met, and it was like looking in a mirror. They were identical, and after a few moments of conversation, they discovered they were both adopted, born in the same hospital on the same day!

Their laughter, tears, and hugs were unstoppable. Ralf, who had never married and had lost his parents, was overjoyed to have found a brother.

“Hey, Phil, we might be able to find our mother!” Ralf said. “We were born at the hospital where I work. I can access our records! All I need to do is enter our birth date!”

The pair went to the hospital where Ralf accessed the files. “It’s simple!” Ralf said excitedly, but his face turned suddenly pale.

“Ralf?” Phillip inquired. “Are you okay? Did you find her?” “Janet Corbin,” Ralf whispered. “But Phil…” “That’s great!” Phillip said smiling. “What’s the problem?” “There are five of us…” Ralf murmured. “FIVE!”

Phillip and Ralf took a selfie, posted it on Instagram, and shared their story, asking anyone who recognized them to help find their siblings. Messages poured in, and soon they met Tom and Gordon. The reunion was emotional, with all four looking exactly alike!

Mara remarked that seeing Phillip with his brothers made her feel lightheaded. “Mara, I’ve never felt happier or more complete in my life,” Phillip said. “But one of us is still missing!”

The four brothers took another selfie and repeated their call. Their story went nationwide, leading to television appearances. One evening, the last brother emerged, but he wasn’t alone.

David, the last brother, arrived at Phillip’s house with an elderly woman. “This is our mother,” he said.

The woman had tears in her eyes. “I am Janet Corbin, and I’m so sorry…” She explained she had been merely a 16-year-old when she gave birth to the quintuplets. Pressured by her mother, she had to keep only one of the babies, but she never forgot the others.

Nearly 60 years later, their family was reunited, and the long-standing wound in their hearts was healed.
