That’s Mind-Blowing: 1000-Lb Sisters Star Tammy Slaton Shows off Her New Figure

Chris Combs, the supportive brother of Tammy Slaton, star of the reality show “1000-Lb Sisters,” shared in celebrating her incredible weight loss journey, cheering her on every step of the way.

Tammy’s transformation has reached a remarkable turning point, leaving her feeling proud and accomplished for the progress she has achieved.

The network TLC, which features “1000-Lb Sisters,” put out an Instagram clip that caught Tammy in a pivotal moment of her journey. In it, Tammy weighs herself and is thrilled to see she now weighs 281.2 lbs, dropping from 303 lbs. Overcome with emotion, she exclaimed, “The last time I was at Dr. Smith’s, I weighed in at 303.”

Her brother Chris reacted with joy, saying, “Congratulations, that’s good!” In a heartfelt reflection, Tammy revealed, “Chris said he weighs 284. I now weigh a little less than Chris. That’s mind-blowing. I think the last time I weighed 281 I was like, fourth or fifth grade. I’m the baby sister, I’m not the ‘big’ baby sister no more.”

When Tammy jokingly asked her brother, “How am I lighter than you?” Chris answered with a chuckle, “You’re supposed to be lighter than me.” This moment of sibling humor added a light touch to Tammy’s hard-earned success.

Beyond the fun exchanges, Chris expressed genuine happiness and pride about Tammy’s journey, noting how unexpected this day was for him. He remarked, “Did I ever think I’d see the day that she was smaller than me? Well, no, probably not, because I never thought about her being smaller than me. She’s always been Tammy, big.”

Tammy has reached several milestones along her weight loss journey. However, an Instagram reveal showed her anticipation of undergoing skin removal surgery has to wait a bit longer.

During a visit with her plastic surgeon, Dr. Brad Turner, she learned she isn’t ready for the procedure yet. The news clearly affected Tammy, who lowered her head in disappointment.

Dr. Turner explained that although Tammy has made fantastic strides, it’s been only 13 months since her bariatric surgery, and further progress is needed before considering skin removal.

“I’m definitely not telling you, ‘No,’” Dr. Turner clarified to Tammy. “I’m just telling you, ‘Not tomorrow.’” He encouraged her to continue her weight loss journey for another six months to a year for ideal results.

Despite some hurdles, Tammy has successfully reduced her weight significantly from her highest known weight of 725 pounds. Her bariatric surgery in July 2022 was a significant turning point, enabling her impressive weight loss.

Reflecting on her journey, Tammy finds joy in the simple victories each day. She’s now able to walk without a walker or wheelchair and has even stopped needing oxygen support both day and night.

She joyfully shared, “Then it was being able to fit in a regular vehicle, front seat, and then the belt buckle, and not have to use an extender now. So I mean, just what seems minor to some people is giant for me.”

The year 2023 saw Tammy gaining a sense of accountability for her weight issues, recognizing the crucial role self-responsibility plays in her transformation. She admitted, “It’s my fault that I’m this size. I let it get out of control, but I know that I can change. I have to.”

Her family and caregivers, including Dr. Eric Smith, Director of the Kentucky Bariatric Institute, are thrilled with Tammy’s dedication and achievements.

Dr. Smith expressed not only pride in Tammy’s weight reduction but also in how she’s achieving a healthier and more joyful life overall.
