Woman Turns a 110-Year-Old Dead Tree into a Magical Free Library

Have you ever heard of a free library? It’s an incredible concept that’s been popping up in neighborhoods all over the place. The idea is simple – people leave books in a mailbox or a similar structure on the street, and others are free to take them and leave some of their own in return. It’s a beautiful way to share the joy of reading with others.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that one woman took this idea to a whole new level. Sharalee Armitage Howard, a librarian, artist, and former bookbinder from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, had a brilliant idea. Instead of removing a dead 110-year-old cotton tree stump from her front yard, she transformed it into a magical free library.

The inside of the tree stump was carved out, a roof was added, and it was even lit up to create a cozy atmosphere. It’s truly a sight to behold – the most enchanting free library I’ve ever come across! Just take a look at the images below to see for yourself.

I believe Sharalee deserves all the applause she can get for her whimsical creation. Not only did she turn something old and lifeless into a magical haven for book lovers, but she also inspired others to participate in the free library movement.
